I may not have EVERYTHING, but I'm thankful that I never had NOTHING #always count your blessings :)

arranged marriage

it's been a while since the last time that i wrote an essay.i wish i had more time and got more ideas to share, from the things that i read to the things that in encounter.

i wanted to take a vacation, to Marawi City. i wish i had time to visit my friends who had recently left Manila for greener pasture. but before i take my trip to Mindanao, i have to visit my family first, to see Gabrienne my niece, talk to my siblings about my plan and things that i will be leaving just incase something might happen to me.

a lot of people say that it is very dangerous place to go to Mindanao, but getting to know people who came from that place gives me confident that not all people who live in that place are dangerous. having some Maranao friends gave me a chance to get a glimpse on the life, norms and culture of Muslim.

aside from having their deep faith with Allah, i admire how brace they are, their high regards to women and elders. i couldn't believe that dowry still exist in this modern time until met them. i believe impossing dowry would be good as a reminder that marrying is not easy and someone must have enough money to support a family, to be mindful one's family like helping their own family before getting married. since parents usually work hard to send their kids to school, it would be best if their son/daughter would contribute in sending their siblings to school.

i also heard stories about arranged marriages which is also sometimes being practiced by Christians and some other religion. as they say parents knows best, but when it comes to arranged marriage, this would be something that i would disagree. i understand that parents just want to have the best for their kids, but still, at the end of the day the parents will not be the one who would live with the spouse.
